STAAD.pro modeling of 2D and 3D frame with supports

Staad structural analysis

1. Create project -> Select plane-> File and folder name-> Units like meter and kilonewton -> Click next


2. Select add beam -> Click next.


3. Select SNap node /beam -> Click x.


4. Create nodes based x, y and z co-ordinates as shown in fugure.


5. Add beam -> Add beam from point to point.


6. Created beams output is as shown in figure below.


7. Select beams -> Select translational repeat.


8. Select y-global direction -> No.of steps and spacing as 3 -> link steps -> click ok.


9. Translational repeat output is as shown in figure below.


10. Select bottom beams -> click delete.


11. Select display node distance -> click on nodes as shown in figure below.


12. Click on remove all node distance.To remove the display of all dimensions.


13. Click general -> support -> create.


14. Select fixed support -> add.


15. Select fixed support -> Use cursor to assign -> Assign -> select bottom node. The support conditions are shown in below figure.


16. To create 3D frame from 2D frame following procedure is followed as shown in figure below.


17. The output of 3D frame is shown in figure below.


18. Select bottom beams -> delete.


19. Select interior beam and columns -> right click -> select copy.


20. Right click -> Paste beams.


21. Paste beams -> x = -5m -> Ok.


22. Add beams -> add beams from point to point -> select the required nodes.


23. The completed 3d frame building.
